Shaft Inspection System (WPS)
The air-bearing shaft inspection system is a precision measuring unit designed for the inspection of shafts with varying lengths and diameters. This system incorporates proven high-precision components and assemblies manufactured by ESS.
The unit utilizes two MTF-series rotary air bearings, serving as the headstock bearing and tailstock bearing respectively. The headstock bearing can be positioned in up to four predefined locations using a modular plug-in system. The tailstock is equipped with a precision roller guide, allowing it to accommodate and clamp workpieces over a travel range of 150 mm.
A pneumatic lifting mechanism enables convenient pre-positioning and loading of components, making the system suitable for both individual and serial inspection processes.
The radial and axial runout accuracy of the air-bearing rotary elements is better than 0.1 µm, while the alignment accuracy of the air bearings is approximately 0.5 µm. Depending on the application requirements, the system can be driven either by DC motors or stepper motors.
